David Weeks

David Weeks is the Co-Founder and COO of Sunrise International. His professional focus is supporting US-China education exchange by advising global universities on the Chinese market. Through his work at Sunrise since 2012, he has steered the organization of 200+ college fairs and recruitment events in 50+ cities in China as well as the creation of social media and advertising campaigns in China, which have cumulatively supported more than 250 international universities in engaging prospective students in China. He has overseen the creation of commissioned market research reports as well as several annually released white papers that shape many US universities' strategies towards the Chinese market. David has managed projects for highly selective universities like Northwestern and Stanford, more than 25 US public flagship universities, dozens of liberal arts colleges, and many regional universities and community colleges. David has been called to present Sunrise's market research at many of the essential international education conferences, including NAFSA, AIRC, AIEA, GET, International ACAC, WIEC, APAIE, ISTE, and GMAC. Sunrise's research has also been cited in international media including the Washington Post, the Economist, the LA Times, the Chronicle of Higher Education, the PIE, and TechCrunch. He is fluent in Mandarin and lived in China for 8 years, studying abroad in Shanghai in 2008 and living in Beijing from 2012-2018. Prior to joining Sunrise, he conducted research on Chinese foreign policy at the Foreign Policy Research Institute. He holds a BA in Political Science from Swarthmore College.
